Twitter was shut down Thursday morning because of a massive Denial of Services attack. A DDOS attack, is where hackers use multiple computers to essentially spam a webpage so that it shuts down, blocking any legitimate traffic from getting through. The same attack also seems to have had some effect on Facebook as they were looking into problems they were having.

Personally, I think this is probably a good thing. I can only imagine that work productivity has suddenly surged world-wide. If you can’t screw around on Twitter and Facebook while at work, what can you do especially since most companies block all the good adult sites? All snark aside, having a major Twitter disruption could actually interfere with the function of business world wide. According to latest reports about 45 million people use Twitter as a communications platform. That is a lot of people who are suddenly not able to communicate. There are a lot of businesses who rely on Twitter for customer service that I’m sure are not too happy.

So, if you are bored, and you can’t get into Twitter, here is a list of things you can do:

1. Talk about Twitter being down on FriendFeed
2. Talk about Twitter being down on Facebook
3. Talk about Twitter being down over IM
4. Leave a comment on a blog post about Twitter being down (preferably this one)
