Oddly enough, the new report claims that the next-gen iPhone will feature an ARM Cortex A8 processor and 512MB of RAM. The most recent iPhone leak does not back up this claim. The teardown revealed an Apple A4 processor which only included 256MB of RAM. However, the new report also claims that there will be a larger battery which is in line with the prototypes that have been leaked. It could be that the report is just following earlier information and so it might not be completely accurate.

So now that we have so much information about the next-gen iPhone, lets go over what we know so far. A larger battery is a given, because of what the teardowns revealed. It seems very likely that the screen resolution will be higher. Both a front-facing camera and an improved camera on the back (with a flash) is expected. The processor should be the same as the iPad’s, an Apple A4 with 256MB of RAM. There will also be a new case design for the iPhone, replacing the curved design with a flat glass backing. Of course it will also run on iPhone OS 4, giving it multitasking capabilities, possibly 720p video recording, and video conferencing. The only thing that seems to be really uncertain is what it will be called. Some earlier rumors suggest that it will be called iPhone HD, and that would fit well considering the feature-set. June 7 is right around the corner so it won’t be long now.
